REFORM

The documentary, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD PEOPLE, shines a powerful light on the harrowing realities of long-term care in our country. It also humanizes the countless nursing home residents who have egregiously suffered as a result of systemic abuse and neglect. It exposes how decades of weak regulations, lack of oversight, and systemic neglect have left vulnerable individuals without the dignity and care they deserve. Through real stories and hard evidence, the film makes one thing abundantly clear: traditional advocacy has failed, and the time for bold, grassroots action is NOW.

R.O.A.R. was born out of these truths, as both a response to the injustices highlighted in the documentary and as a call to arms for anyone who believes in the inherent worth of every human being.

R.O.A.R. STANDS FOR

 •   RESPECT:  To respect and uphold the inherent dignity and rights of nursing home residents.

 •   OVERSIGHT:To demand meaningful oversight and accountability for long-term care facilities.

 •   ADVOCATE: To drive advocacy efforts that prioritize action and systemic enforcement, not just awareness.

 •    REFORM: To push for systemic reform that ensures quality care, transparency, and protection of residents’ rights.

RESIDENTS’ RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS

As NO COUNTRY FOR OLD PEOPLE reveals, nursing home residents are too often treated as statistics rather than individuals with fundamental human rights. ROAR exists to change this narrative, ensuring that every elder receives the dignity, safety, and respect they are entitled to.
